The problem
Chop Chop came to me a year into the business with a phase-one site that couldn’t keep up with a mobile salon and barber brand built entirely around being on the go. As the sole designer and engineer on the project, I owned everything from UX through launch. Their clients weren’t sitting at a desktop deciding on a haircut; they were checking a phone between meetings or events.
The decision
I rebuilt the site mobile-first rather than mobile-adapted, designing the booking flow and service menu for a thumb on a small screen first, then scaling up, and built it myself end-to-end. I integrated their booking and POS system directly into that flow, so browsing services and reserving a slot could happen without leaving the site. Customers on any device could find Chop Chop, understand what they offer, and book without friction.
